GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job plays an integral role in the Office of Developments: (1) strategic planning, goal setting, and pipeline forecasting; (2) prospect and donor management strategies that streamline and expedite the donor engagement process and major gift cycle, as well as facilitating moves management and maintaining thorough records in the CRM database. (3) The prospect research manager is critical and instrumental in the oversight and management of the entire prospect research department by facilitating reporting, evaluative metrics, comprehensive donor and prospect profiles, as well as identifying and matching key prospects to priority fundraising efforts for transformational giving to AHN.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Planning:

  • Works in partnership with the Chief Philanthropy Officer, the Development Leadership Team, and front-line fundraisers to organize and coordinate prospect strategy sessions, presentations to Institute Leadership, annual planning and quarterly forecasting, as well as regularly scheduled donor meetings;

  • Collaborates to develop personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies;

  • Coordinates and fulfills data requests through reports and research to provide frontline-fundraisers with strategic analysis for prospect management and fundraising projections and to identify areas of opportunity.

  • Prospect Management:

  • Identifies key prospects and provides research to frontline fundraisers to help them form transformational relationships that lead to philanthropic support to enhance programs and patient care at AHN

  • Oversees the prospect moves management system in the office of development's CRM;

  • Identifies prospect capacity, affinity, interest, and area of impact to match donors with network fundraising priorities.

  • Ensures prospect moves and status are appropriate based on major gift officer activity with prospects.

  • Facilitates timely and accurate reports from the research data team to the Office of Development staff based on current needs as well as ensures database records and reports are up to date for contact and meetings with donors and prospects.

  • Additionally, the prospect research manager is responsible for staying abreast of donors in the news, philanthropic trends, current economic and world events, and evolving prospect research/management practices.

  • Prospect Research:

  • Conducts proactive and reactive research and prospect wealth screenings in support of AHN’s fundraising efforts.

  • Develops prospecting methodologies to identify new prospects to make transformational gifts to AHN in support of new programs, patient care, and medical research and advancements.

  • Oversees the prospect research department and manages and coordinates all functions of prospect research, directly working with supporting staff researcher(s), setting research goals, objectives, and strategic plans, and serving as a vital link between direct fundraising activity and the functions of the operations team.

  • Creates and produces in-depth donor and prospect profiles to be presented to Institute leadership, Board Members, Executive Leadership and frontline fundraising and senior staff to enhance and expedite the donor engagement process.

  • Provides training to staff pertaining to research requests and data.

  • Creates systems, guidelines, and policies for the accurate and ethical management of all donor and prospect information, maintaining the highest levels of patient and donor privacy and security while adhering to HIPAA and Allegheny Health Network privacy and security guidelines.

  • Maintains and analyzes prospective and upgraded donor data and develops current and prospective donor profiles to help determine appropriate solicitation ranges for transformational giving to AHN.

  • Manages research projects including grateful patient uploads and screenings as well as research for Board development.

  • Assesses research methods, goals, and strategies, and develop and implement new ways of streamlining the research process. Creating, amending, and reviewing all prospect research/prospect management policies, as well as educating development staff about these policies.

  • Evaluate and negotiate the purchase and renewal of, and regularly review research resources, publications, services, and memberships for effectiveness, reliability, and comprehensive coverage.

  • Develops and maintains systems to manage high volume research and report requests.

  • Other related duties if required

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • 5 years with a constituent database, in an advancement or development operation

  • 5 years in a complex organization within the healthcare, higher education, and/or nonprofit sectors

  • 5 years with prospect research and prospect management functions

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
